SMNN - Philipsburg: --- Information reaching SMN News states that the leader of the People's Progressive Party Gracita Arrindell and Commissioner Theo Heyliger are to sign an agreement as early as Tuesday declaring that they have begun talks to form the new green party.

SMN News learnt that Heyliger and Arrindell had agreed prior to the parliamentary elections that they were going to team up for country election which is slated for June 2010.

SXM Island Times - PHILIPSBURG - The Leader of the PPA Drs. Gracita Arrindell stated, that she too is not confident about 10.10.10 and the expectation that St. Maarten will achieve Country status.

The PPA leader made her comments on Sunday during an interview with Stephan de Robert on PJD2, “Breakfast with de Robert”. None the less the political party which launched their website last month, http://www.ppa2010.com/, still believes that the election is an important one.

SXM Island Times - PHILIPSBURG - Monday November 23rd 2009 is Postulation Day for next years Parliamentary election, expected to be the last election for the Parliament of the Netherlands Antilles.

SMNN - Philipsburg:--- Members of the National Alliance met with former island council lady Gracita Arrindell on Monday as they try to negotiate what position the National Alliance would give Arrindell should she merge the People Progressive Party with the National Alliance.

Arrindell held meetings with Independent Island Council man Theo Heyliger who plans to launch the Green Party for country election. SMN News understands that the new kid on the block would not be contesting the January parliamentary elections and the meetings with Arrindell did not bear fruit.

PHILIPSBURG--Former Adjunct Island Secretary Gracita Arrindell has been appointed policy advisor within the Island Secretariat by the Executive Council as of next week Tuesday. She was informed of the appointment via letter Thursday. The council’s decision was made in response to the court’s verdict that a suitable position should be found for Arrindell after her former post of adjunct secretary was made redundant during the restructuring of the secretariat more than two years ago. With that post, Arrindell also served as Acting Island Secretary and Chef du Bureau. [More....]

SMNN - Philipsburg:--- The National Alliance/Heyliger and Laviest Government have decided last week to appoint Gracita Arrindell in the island secretariat, a letter was sent to Arrindell Wednesday morning informing her of the decision taken by the executive council.

SMN News has been reliably informed that Arrindell did not sign for the letter and instead directed the person delivering the letter to her lawyer’s office.

SMNN - Philipsburg:--- The Green Party, which sources say may be named the St. Maarten Democratic Alliance, is now gaining strength as several key politicians in the community are planning to join force with Commissioner Theo Heyliger.

SMN News has learnt that Christopher Emanuel is now part of the Green Party as he negotiated with Heyliger and sealed a deal.

SXM Island Times - PHILIPSBURG - Information from reliable sources now say that the People’s Progressive Alliance (PPA), will contest the elections in the upcoming year.

However according to our source, the various political parties on St. Maarten, namely the Democratic Party and the National Alliance, have been holding discussions with the PPA leader, Drs. Gracita Arrindell in addition to the unnamed green Heyliger party.
