Roundabouts and Ringroads
![]()
I find the story this morning about Sarah wanting copies of objections that have been made about Theo's planned GSP Ring Road. And it gives me an opening for a quick blog on the story to keep it topical :)
A Ring Road is not a long term solution to the traffic and transport problems of the island nor does it provide any long term jobs, only short term and mostly unskilled. Parking garages and public transport systems are a better use for the money and both create long term jobs. There's also the question of environmental impacts and loss of heritage, which I'll leave to the Enviro Groups to argue for as they do it better than I.
Pride and EPIC Objection to Great Salt Pond Ring Road. (for Sarah.)
Wescot-Williams Requests Copies of objections filed against the Ring Road Project in Philipsburg.

You can tell what the problems were between Theo and Sarah based on what is happening. Ive always heard that the ring-road never had the full support of the entire Exco. Just Theo trying to get his way. Now that she's in opposition, Sarah is better positioned than anybody to take this issue on and get answers. Her questions today needs answering. Theo was for his projects and held his party hostage because of them. I believe the next few months will show alot.
O and only NOW does Sarah involve herself with the whole ringroad project, now that she is not sitting in the Exco with Theo on her side. Very opportunistic and she continues to make herself look like the biggest hypocrite.
Anyone can see that she wants to settle a score with Theo (for "deserting" the DP) and therefore she will try anything to sabotage his projects.
I am not a Theo supporter in any way, neither a NA or DP supporter. In my book they all suck big time and don't give a rats ass about SXM. However, Sarah is just playing small town politics here and I'll call her (and anyone else for that matter) out on it each and every time.

Sarah is completely powerless. The Ring Road will be build, objections or no objections. Opportunistic, revengeful Sarahs or not. Nature foundations, sxmpe's cannot change the plans or stop it.
Mark my words, a lot of people underestimate the amount of monies involved in all this Public Administration...
and all the while the island's nature pays the cost. Bill after bill and untill the people stand up, mother nature will be cruelly confined to eternally paying bills.
I still think the color of the new party is a very sly choice, green. They think they can fool the people?
Yes they can! If the people continue to turn a blind eye, yes.
XOXO
That sums it up pretty good. Well written.
Merci :)
That's just because I wasn't educated at Learning (and spending) Unlimited...
(let me just get some people to detest me...intensely)
as you know, LU only takes intellectually challenged kids with big fat ego's and $$, who wouldn't make it on a 'normal' school. YUK, I think too much fun in school takes away the emphasize from maths. Too many expensive trips makes Richard a spoiled chap. One you'd rather not hang around with, in my humble opinion. Something has got to be done...I suggest more schools! PUBLIC ones, mind!
Kids are the future
XOXO
PS. RIP KING OF POP
Can you believe the children going to LU spending $7500 per year have such a small school, horrible syllabus, no facilities whatsoever. I went to St. Dominic High and believe me that school is the best with their new fancy building with new computers, smart boards, and science lab. Of course there are the usual bingos and fundraisers but that better than wasting $7500 at LU and all these sheep of indian people who are sending their children just because one parent sends one child. I find it very weird and majority of them aren't even going USA for college.
Good for you. But what about the hours in traffic everyday, bringing you to school, driving you home, picking you up from school, driving you home with a zillion others on a small dead end road that is so clogged up that you (or your mom) probably need a 7500 dollar vacation every year to wind down from that daily stress. 2 hours of traffic horror everyday, 200 schooldays, 12 years. You don't mind? Fine. Others do and happily pay a high school fee to avoid that. And by the way: it's really none of your business what others pay or don't pay for a school you don't attend.
The after school fights! Oh yes.,.. one day one of those fights will endanger innocent motorists who are on their way to pick up their children.
It is a every day thing up there... gang fights, school fights, and now the fights are considered entertainment as they record them and proudly put them up on Youtube.
You mention Indians, but Cassie you are not aware that regular middle class SXMners are putting their children in private schools so they can have a SAFE learning environment.
Before you knock thongs down, find out why middle class SXMners are scraping their earnings to have their children safe in a educational facility.
Hey, wait a minute! I didn't say anything about Indians.
And I know bloody well why the middle class wants more than anything to have their kids safe in a private school.
And for your information, I've been there as well.
I know what I'm saying.
XOXO
Hey Cassie, try not to worry about it too much, most readers will see that the comment was not yours. Unfortunately there seem to be some who just don't seem able to get their head around blogging and commenting. For some reason they think that one person's blog or comment speaks for the site or for every other regular user. Really we should restrict comments to people who create a user name and we may end up doing that one day, sadly though many are afraid even to comment anonymously, let alone with a user name, despite it being very simple to set up an anonymous mail account to do so.
Awaiting a new blog from you :)

I never went to a private school either, just an ordinary government school. I never envied kids who had fancy education. My education was nothing special. But I never let it hold me back. All my learning I did when I left school. Everything I know, I have taught myself post school because I always loved to learn about new things.
